When touring Amarillo, new business prospects often ask to see downtown. A thriving downtown indicates health and support for a vision for growth in our city. We are moving that direction with the MPEV and the convention hotel. These projects will lead to more private investments downtown, which will lead to more businesses and families coming to Amarillo to enrich our tax base and support our local service providers and retailers.

The most important aspect of the proposal is the mutli-use aspect of the new sports center. Amarillo can not support a single purpose baseball facility so the fact that the current proposal is the multi use functionality of it ! Now that makes sense to me. Amarillo loses larger conventions be user our current civic center is limited. The current package of multi-use facility, more convention hotels with convention facilities is just what downtown needs.

Yes I want a ballpark and very much trust the judgment and character of prior council members who have moved us this far

I want Amarillo to start pulling in the big name and big bucks. I want restaurants, merchandisers , etc to consider Amarillo their first choice and not a fall back.

I definitely think our city needs to "come out of the the dark ages". Amarillo needs ways to encourage new industry to be here and amenities are important.

This is much needed on many levels. I want Amarillo to be a place where people come to visit - and spend their money.

Amarillo cannot afford to loose this opportunity...new City Council members need to understand the big picture and let this happen. We have needed a downtown convention hotel for the past 45 years....this is our chance...don't blow it!!

If our city does not move forward, it will fall backward. The city will fall down around us if we try to maintain the status quo. Drive down any street leading away from the downtown area, in any direction, and look at what trying to maintain the status quo has done for our city. There has been some effort to progress; do not stop now.

Amarillo needs to prove to developers, investors, and citizens that it is a reliable participant in important projects and economic development. Backing out now will mark us as an unreliable place to develop and do business.
