Amarillo is 10-15 years behind other cities with similar populations. This downtown redevelopment will bring businesses, income and much needed "life" to our Center City. This project is a must for our community!

We need all of this. We have needed a downtown hotel since the late 1970's. No telling how many conventions we have missed because of not having one.

My wife and I are looking into relocating as soon as possible if this doesn't happen. Including our small business. We love the community but we can't support wasted potential to improve Amarillo.

In order for others to invest in Amarillo, Amarillo has to invest in itself. Best example is the new Xcel Building: “I wouldn’t spend $42 million to be an island with nothing else new and attractive around. We think there’s some momentum there [new convention hotel/parking garage/multi-purpose event center],” said Mark Johnson, Xcel’s real estate director. “That’s one of the driving factors in us pursuing this.” This is the first, but it won't be the last. Let's get going Amarillo! Move forward on the downtown redevelopment!

We need this to help recruit and retain educated professionals to our area. Living wage job creation is the key to the growth in our economy.

Many public and private leaders in Amarillo have worked very hard for years to help transform downtown Amarillo into a center city that will attract more conventions and tourist dollars to our area. It is essential that these efforts continue. I urge the City Council to keep these projects on track and not to give too much credence to the complaints of a very vocal minority of citizens that are opposed to anything that costs money or looks too progressive.

It is an exciting time to see how the downtown can be transformed - starting with the hotel and events center. Great things are ahead for Amarillo if these improvements are made.

These very well planned and strategized projects will work and move Amarillo forward with a great economic impact. We just need to support the projects and the extensive planning that has gone into bringing them to fruition.

What great news for Amarillo, Amarillo has been a diamond in the rough for many years. The secret is out about Amarillo being a great place to live. With the additional of these new facilities, Amarillo will without a doubt be the HUB of the panhandle attracting more people and businesses. Bob Manning

A vibrant downtown reflects on the health and vitality of the whole city! A downtown hotel, amulti use venue, a multilevel parking garage...all of these things will lead to more businesses and more visitors to downtown and to our city!
