Final supporters
As I'm sure you're all aware, the fantastic new facilities at The Green, Wembdon have now been completed. A variety of different age ranges and sports are already taking advantage of these excellent facilities.
However, the powers that be have, at present, taken the decision not to allow the Wembdon FC adult team to move back into the village and use the venue as their home base for a variety of different reasons.
This petition has been set up to gauge the opinion of anyone with a vested interest in this to have their say.
Whether you're a local resident, a parent of a child currently playing in the Wembdon youth teams who's looking to progress into the adult team, a current member of the Wembdon FC adult team, or you just feel strongly about this, we want to hear from you. If you feel the decision that's been taken needs to be reconsidered, please sign this petition.
The more signatures and views we can collect on here, the better. So feel free to share this with anyone you can.
Wembdon FC adult team has been playing outside of the village for way too long now. These new facilities give us a perfect setting to return to our rightful home.

I have spent the last few days talking to fellow residents who feel just as frustrated as I do about our adult team staying exiled from the village. The local feedback has been incredible but the silence from the decision makers remains just as loud. We are currently preparing a formal proposal to prove why these facilities should be open to our players.

Seeing this level of backing for our team to return to The Green is truly overwhelming. It confirms that so many of you share my belief that football belongs in the heart of our village.

So hope this decision is reversed, we should be encouraging our young adults to continue to play sports after leaving education, not making it more difficult, especially when they have spent the last 4 years fundraising to raise money so this fantastic sports venue could be built. Good luck!
Adult football should be allowed in the Green at Wembdon it is a community facility and therefore should be available to all ages. Families would make more use of the new village hall and isn't it better to have events the whole family can join in Children are more likely to participate in sport if they see their parents taking part.
I was always of the understanding that Wembdon men's football team would play football and use new facilities at Wembdon. Speaking as someone who played football for Wembdon United in the 80's, and having to play our home games on a farmers field in Skimmerton lane, I feel it's surely about time the local team played in the Village.
Make this happen. This isn't right, I currently coach the wembdon u13s and hate to think that in 4 years time they couldn't continue to train and play at such lovely facilities.
I am a local village resident and this is ludicrous! The children's teams play and therefore so should the adults. I thought the point of the building and pitches was for the village to use and enjoy and for the village teams and other activities.

Wembdon Football Club (adults) are delighted to announce that after a very positive meeting with the Trustees of the Village Hall, we can confirm that The Green at Wembdon will be our home from 2018. We would like to thank all the Trustees, Dan Bingham and everyone at Wembdon Cricket Club, Nick Searle and all at Wembdon JFC and all the residents and members of the public for their fantastic support. It's a great feeling to know, that a 6 year old starting football now, has the pathway to play right through to their forties!! We feel that we have teams that the village can be proud of, and that we hope the people of Wembdon will enjoy watching if they venture down on a Saturday afternoon. Please come along! We know you'll enjoy it!! We are very proud to call these wonderful facilities our home. Thank you from all at Wembdon FC (adults)

The enjoyment of football from the Under 6-Under 16s route shouldn't need to stop as soon as they are deemed too old for youth football. Having a player pathway will encourage community involvement and interest in their local facilities, keeping our youngsters actively involved in positive healthy sporting activities which we helped to provide.
