You have dogs who have been at your shelter for 6 years. They were brought in as puppies. Why has no staff member or volunteer adopted one of these dogs all this time? Your job is to highlight these dogs. If they had been shown to everyone who comes into your shelter right away, they would have been adopted as puppies. Instead you have allowed them to be warehoused. I am speaking for these dogs and telling you this is wrong on every level. Your job is to advertise these dogs non-stop until they have a home. Over the years you have let things just settle into place. That is immoral. This is a life we are talking about. I don't praise you for not putting them down. I condemn you for warehousing them and letting it become the status quo. Do you think these dogs are happy? You should be ashamed that you have allowed warehousing to take place. Please do you job and find these dogs homes stat. What an atrocity that they came to you as puppies and you have let them down by giving them a life in a cage. What is wrong with Yonkers Animal Shelter? You warehouse animals? You don't fight to find them homes and make it happen? It does not take 6 years with even mild effort to find a dog a home. You have failed these dogs! Stop now and find them homes! While you are at it, get rid of your "cash only" policy. In this day and age few people carry cash.
