We, the undersigned, disagree with the decision by the Province of Nova Scotia to break its 2007 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities that saw the Province absorb costs for corrections and public housing and limit increases in municipal contributions to education to the Consumer Price Index. We strongly object to the introduction of Legislation on April 15th to cancel the MOU, and we support Mayor Peter Kelly and members of Council in insisting that this government reverse its decision to ignore the 2007 UNSM MOU and work with the Halifax Regional Municipality instead of blind-siding them financially.
The Province thought they could break their word without us noticing. Now they have a massive fight on their hands because we are finished with their backroom betrayal of our municipalities.

The province needs to play fair. This is just a massive power grab at the expense of local taxpayers.

Fix this mess. Council needs that money for actual services not to cover provincial bills.

Keep your word. You cant just write a contract and then decide to tear it up when you want more cash. Unbelievable.

TOTAL DISHONESTY from the government. Stay true to the MOU or find another way to balance the books.
