Final supporters
We, the petitioners, are either residents of the Crestwood Estate or regular visitors, to the Estate. There is currently one entry/exit to the Crestwood Estate.
As a resident or visitor, with the continued expansion within the estate, we have experienced significant delays in exiting the estate, particularly during work weeks (outside of School Holidays)
This is particularly noticeable at the intersection of upper Crestwood Drive and lower Crestwood Drive which becomes a congested intersection during these periods, and relies on the courtesy of drivers with right of way to allow egress to other drivers.
We are concerned that, along with the continued expansion of the estate with a significant number of dwellings yet to be built, that this will add loaded stress on the single entry/ exit point from the estate.
We note, that with the intended duplication of Ocean Drive, council intend to construct an egress to Ocean Drive directly opposite Yaluma Drive, that will be closed to regular vehicular traffic unless in the event of an emergency. We can see no reason why this planned access should not be a permanent access. This particular route in the past allowed an alternative exit point from the estate.
We petition council, prior to the finalisation of the planned duplicate of Ocean Drive to:;
Make the proposed emergency exit a permanent entry/exit to the estate for use by regular vehicular traffic.

Many thanks David for taking this community concern up with council and Lesley Williams. We are long term residents of Crestwood and the congestion at the roundabout at Ocean Drive and Crestwood Drive during morning peak is dreadful and will get worse as more homes are built in the estate.
the issue with the Ocean Drv upgrade will mean we will only have the option to turn left due to the dual carriageway if ever the upgrade occurs. A better option would be an access to the west or east more probably easier and more appropriately onto Sapphire drv. Another exit is necessary for emergency services if anything.
Council believe the traffic lights proposed for both Ocean/Crestwood Drives & Ocean/Jonas AbsolumDrives will alleviate this problem. Their traffic census study was done several years ago, well before all the development in the area.
Council should add the cost of the additional exit to the developer contributions. The fact that there is only one exit is unacceptable.
This is now a huge estate and the traffic will only get worse. My daughter and i have discussed our concern living across from the reserve and what would happen if we have a fire and the increased traffic in a panic. People could be trapped.

we have been waiting for 25 years now for Ocean Drive upgrade to dual carriage way and traffic lights at the major housing estates like Crestwood, will it be another 25 years before we see any action? It is a pity the council people and the major do not have to exit Crestwood Estate every morning to get to work!!!!
