#add3minutes to reduce New Forest animal road deaths

the 40 mph makes no difference to most drivers like every other signs

I keep my speed in the forest down to 35mph in daylight and 30mph after dark

An extremely worthwhile initiative

Regularly travel through the forest early in the morning and unfortunately witnessed an incident involving a deer one morning. Absolutely tragic, the animals don't understand the highway code and are very unpredictable. The animals need our protection to stay safe.

Please People! Slow down, respect your environment, respect the nature and mainly the life of the Animals who makes that park such a wonderful place!

We must do all we can to avoid these terrible injuries and deaths. Good to see the speed vans on the roads.

One of the main problem roads, from Brook across to Fordingbridge needs to be fenced. Many years ago when the road from Cadnam to Lyndhurst was fenced there was an almighty kick up, the same now with the idea of doing the same to Fordingbridge. However, it will save countless animal lives and possibly human lives. Animals are not born to be mown down, many humans will not slow down ! This increasing problem needs to be addressed now. No more procrastination.

Common sense to me. It’s a risk to the animals and road users so get some measures in now and not wait for a catastrophe to happen before u act.

Save lives drive slower and more vigilantly at night. Its worth it

My husband and me take our dog to the New Forest regularly and are horrified at how fast people drive, as there are always horses wondering about. I think speed cameras might help.

We all need to slow down and take those extra minutes in journeytime to ensure animal ( and our ) safety. We as locals should be setting better examples!

unnecessary carnage due to human impatience and stupidity. Even when cycling I dropped my speed after dusk as the viewing and stopping distance is very short for a moving animal

I frequently drive through the Forest and am horrified by the idiotic speeds at which some motorists drive.

The cheapest change of all is a change in attitude.

I fully support this - I'm a regular visitor to the New Forest and have personally seen some thoughtless driving near animals - it seems to be the locals who tailgate you whilst you keep to the 40 mph limit and overtake you at speed at the first opportunity.
