Tuesday February 7th, 2012, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors agreed to raise fines to up to $1,000 for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County. The 37 page ordinance prohibits “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Unless in a predesignated area and after obtaining a permit.

In addition to this silliness, is this ridiculous section of the ordinance that also prohibits digging any hole deeper than 18 inches into the sand except where permission is granted for film and TV production services only. Looks like a lot of 5 year olds are going to need to find some cash!

If you think this is pure craziness, sign our petition to keep our beaches free and active! There's no reason our beaches can't be active places for people to both play recreational sports as well as relax by the water in a safe, peaceful manner.

my kids love digging holes in the sand and playing catch. talk about killing the vibe of summer. local govt needs to get a real hobby instead of ruining ours.

Are you kidding me? A thousand bucks for tossing a frisbee? People go to the beach to have fun not to be treated like criminals. This is just a total cash grab by the city.
