Dear Chapter Members,
Since our March election results were announced, three newly-elected officers have resigned. On Friday, May 4, 2018, Michelle Schreiner - Vice President, Sean Walsh - Secretary, and Yong Song - Treasurer terminated their board service to the chapter having served five weeks.
As President of the RTP Chapter and the only remaining member of your Executive Board, I have solicited new officers who have previously and faithfully served this Chapter for many years as Board Leaders and whom I knew would be truly effective during this time of transition. Having given their full support by agreeing to serve, the new Chapter Board is as follows:
- Marysasser Holloway - President
- Angela Parham Belton - Vice President
- Gail Hitti - Treasurer
- Ro Moser - Secretary
Despite my discretionary authority as President and ability to immediately replace these Board positions, the Executive Director of ACRP, Jim Kremidas, asked for my resignation. He expressed a lack of confidence in my leadership and a perceived lack of support from the Chapter. I declined to submit my resignation as I felt it was not in the best interests of our Chapter and I had the support of our members to continue to lead this organization through the end of the calendar year.
Nonetheless, an urgent meeting of the ACRP Board of Trustees, led by Kathy Kimmel, has been called at Jim’s request to consider the potential dissolution of our Chapter. This meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, May 10, 2018.
If you support your current Chapter Board of Officers as listed above and the continued existence of the RTP Chapter, please ensure you are a current member in good standing and sign this petition without delay. By taking the steps in this petition, you provide your signature and indicate your support and confidence in our current Chapter Board and their Executive Leadership. I encourage you to share the URL with other chapter members to promote awareness of the urgent need for action on this issue. All responses will be collected and shared with Kathy Kimmel and Jim Kremidas on May 9th in time for the Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday.

The transition of our leadership board remains my primary focus to ensure the stability of this chapter. I am currently evaluating the feedback provided by members regarding the recent request for my resignation. Your continued attention to these internal developments is essential for our progress.

The response to this petition has demonstrated a remarkable level of engagement from our chapter membership. Your commitment to the stability and future of this organization is evident in the growing momentum we have achieved. I am grateful for the sustained attention directed toward this critical governance issue.

As a former local chapter officer many years ago and one who assisted in growing the chapter when it was struggling, it would show a blatant disregard for all volunteers who have supported the chapter to dissolve the chapter. Whatever the issue, surely professionals can come to solution without dissolving the local chapter.
I rely on the ACRP RTP chapter to maintain my continuing education in the research field. It is a great opportunity for networking in our local area which is robust with research institutions. I believe it would be a very poor decision to lose this chapter. I feel the current board will be able to overcome whatever challenges have recently occurred and can carry on the high standards of our chapter.
While I have not been an RTP member for more than a couple of years, I have experience starting an ACRP chapter and know that a chapter needs member support to continue. This chapter has been able to provide educational opportunities that many would not be able to attend if provided elsewhere. I support the RTP chapter.
The RTP chapter should not be dissolved. A local chapter is a great way for some to get into this field by networking, staying current on topics and finding a career path by talking to those in the field. We all agree we need more study coordinators and monitors. The RTP chapter must stay.
In the interests of full disclosure it would be helpful to understand why these officials all chose to resign on the same day. That being said, the ACRP RTP Chapter was instrumental in my getting into the clinical research industry. This Chapter is very important to the clinical industry in this area.
I realize I am late to the party, but as I am just seeing this message, I feel compelled to at least express my opinion. With the high concentration of Clinical Research Professionals in the area, dissolution of the Chapter seems to be quite a drastic move. While some may not be as active others, the interest still appears to remain in keeping the local Chapter alive. Regarding the resignations of the most of the local board, more information than has been shared here is needed and quite frankly owed to those of us who are members. I do however understand not presenting that information in a public forum such as this. Perhaps another venue would offer such an opportunity for further discussion.
It doesn't sound to me like we're getting the whole story from Marysasser, I'd like to hear from the rest of the board that voluntarily resigned and the Executive Director of ACRP before taking any of this as fact. There's no way they'd dissolve the chapter, they might restructure it (not necessarily a bad thing) but not dissolve it...Marysasser is just inciting fear imo.

The RTP chapter of ACRP has been important to my professional career as a CCRC for 25 yrs. It will remain important to me & for future clinical research professionals in this area. Thank you.
