SA-ACOFP would like to petition the Family Medicine residency program at OPTI-West/Skagit Regional Health and Dr. Julie Merriam, program director, to consider application for the ACGME Single Accreditation. There are many of us who would like the opportunity to continue our osteopathic education after graduation. Our reasons for encouraging this include mastering the techniques that we have learned over our four years of medical school, applying our osteopathic education to real world patients and improving their quality of life, and maintaining the skills that define us as osteopathic physicians and differentiate us from our allopathic counterparts.

The conversation with leadership is ongoing. We are pushing to keep osteopathic training at the center of this residency program.

The momentum is incredible. This shows how many of us are committed to keeping our osteopathic identity strong.

This is non negotiable. We need to hold onto our osteopathic roots and keep the training strong at Skagit. Do the right thing and apply for the accreditation.
Please move forward with this. We worked way too hard learning these skills to just see them disappear after graduation. Dr. Merriam needs to listen to the residents on this one.
