As an osteopathic medical student, I demand that the Florida State Legislature to amend Florida Statute 459.0055 and remove the required "osteopathic internship year" from licensing requirements.  This unfair requirement puts undue strain on aspiring osteopathic physicians and exacerbates the impending physician shortage in the state of Florida.

Updates

The feedback from fellow students has been overwhelming. I am currently coordinating with legislative offices to get this requirement on their radar.

The momentum is undeniable now. Florida is finally listening.

So unnecessary. Just let them practice if they have the degree. Florida needs these doctors right now.

My cousin had to move out of state just because of this. Its literally keeping doctors away from Florida.

Ridiculous requirement. We are already short on doctors in this state so why make it harder for them to practice??

The physician shortage is real. We need to stop putting extra barriers in the way of people trying to help our communities.

This is so outdated. Florida is losing good doctors to other states because of this one silly rule. Change it already.
