The Alaska members of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) are in favor of forming an Alaska Chapter of ASES. The sponsor will be the the Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology (ACAT). ACAT will act as the umbrella non-profit organization to form the Alaska Chapter of the ASES.

Updates

March 20, 2010

I have been spending way too much time staring at bylaws and trying to figure out the best way to structure this so ACAT can actually support the solar folks without getting tangled in red tape. It is funny because the more I talk to people about the potential for an Alaska chapter the more I realize how much energy is really out there waiting to be directed somewhere useful like this.

It is about time we get more resources for solar up here. winters are rough and energy prices are just crazy.

YES. Finally someone is doing something about this. Solar power is the future and we are way behind.

Alaska needs to step up and look at solar. We have the light in summer so lets use it.
