My wife tried to log on and pay our mortgage tonight and this popped up and she could not cancel out or move forward.

It is an AOR, and most customers will click it without thinking and they will no longer have you as an agent. Of course you can AOR it right back but this is as sleazy as it gets!

IAOA members would like to prohibit this type of marketing activity being done by agencies looking to AOR policies via an automated process like this, prefilled with customer's policy data, old agency, new agency and with only the need to check a box to complete the AOR.

Watching my wife struggle with that pop-up on our own screen made it clear how predatory these automated AOR tactics really are. We are nearing a hundred signatures and that milestone will force these companies to acknowledge our frustration. Please send this link to a few colleagues so we can push past this goal and keep the pressure on.

Watching my wife struggle with that pop-up screen was infuriating enough to start this fight. We are almost at two hundred fifty signatures which will force them to look at how many people find their sneaky traps unacceptable. Take a moment to send this link to a colleague so we can hit that mark today.

If this isn’t illegal, it should be. The insurance world is confusing enough without predatory, VC-backed agencies using deceitful strategies to gain business.

Absolutely ridiculous that they don’t speak to the new ‘agent’ prior to being forced to sign this form. This should be investigated by the DOI.

AOR are a great, and much needed tool in our industry… this is absolutely abuse of the system. SafeCo is not a carrier I will look at, until this process is stopped.

This was my home insurance and my wife that almost clicked it just so she could make a payment. That would have been the only way to move forward.

This is what will cause independent agents to stop placing business with carriers that allow this. Why support carriers that don’t have the back on their partners

BOR are a great tool but the abusive use where a customer doesn't even know what happening is terrible.
