Stop The Ann Arbor Airport Runway Extension

This proposal is inappropriate, Willow Run is a much better option for the landing of larger planes. Sixty years ago we lived in a neighborhood west of Midway Airport in Chicago, when a large plane went down one block from us and all aboard were killed. When you have lived thru that experience, you never want to repeat it.

The crash danger from large number of Canadian geese in the area, potential threat to our groundwater and planes landing 93 feet above MY home are all reasons I oppose expansion of the Ann Arbor Airport runway.

Larger aircraft means more noise and environmental issues.

It is totally irresponsible for Ann Arbor City Council to even consider expansion of runways at Ann Arbor Airport to the west, or southwest , greatly impacting our Stonebridge Community and surrounding neighborhoods. There has not been a proven need for expansion , safety is already very good and nearby Willow Run is just a few miles away if larger runways and larger, full-service facility is needed. We have many, many Canadian Geese , and swans living in our ponds year round , a much larger population than has been suggested , growing larger every year. The risk of geese around more planes, the risks of jet fuel and de-icing agents potentially spilling into water supplies, the increased noise over our quiet township neighborhoods ( not over your city of Ann Arbor ) have created intense concerns in our neighborhoods . Please do not consider moving forward with this expansion !!! You need to hear more from all of us who would be affected , it is a frightening idea for our community.

My family and I are opposed to the runway expansion for a number of reasons including: 1. Larger planes will make greater noise and create environmental pollution. This can result in health issues, especially for the young and old. 2. This only benefits corporations who have larger jets, not the residents and home owners of Pittsfield, Lodi, among others. Most residents don't use or own jets or large aircraft that require a longer runway. 3. There are other alternatives such as DTW, Willow Run, Livingston County Spencer Hardy Airport, all within a 30 minute drive. 4. The perceived convenience is not reality. Driving from ARB to downtown Ann Arbor takes between 15-45 minutes depending on traffic conditions, signals, stop signs, and general congestion. Not much time is saved. 5. This directly impacts home values by tens of thousands of dollars if not more. 6. Expansion impacts hundreds if not thousands of residents surrounding the airport. The only ones who gain are corporations, who have no interest in the community. My family and I are strongly opposed the expansion of the runway. Best regards, Alexander Hermanowski

I am heavily opposed to the expansion of the airport for many reasons including the potential hazard of plane crash in the adjacent neighborhoods, potential pollution issues to those same neighborhoods, and the sound pollution from the larger airplanes.

Larger planes flying even lower and closer to nearby neighborhoods put hundreds of families at risk.

I purchased my house top dollars, it is absolutely not fair to destroy the peace of our neighborhood. I think we did not do any wrong to be punished with our assets by disturbing the quietness, peace, and green of our peaceful living. We urge you to save our neighborhood. We urge you to STOP this expansion for the sake of the retired elderly people who want to live in peace for what ever is left in their lives. I will strongly miss the view of the beautiful gees and nature every morning, I will miss sitting in my back yard with out horrible noise. I will be struggling to sell my house wile loosing a huge amount of unfair loss in case this expansion happen. Your consideration is appreciated. Stonebridge resident

It seems outrageous to me that Ann Arbor city council can thru its vote, reduce my property value and impair the peaceful enjoyment of our neighborhood.

The thought of larger, jet planes using this airport is frightening. Surely both Willow Run and Metro are close enough to host the larger planes. This is a great little airport for smaller planes.

Please do not expand the Ann Arbor Airport runway. This will have a devastating effect on a number of residential communities - from quality of life to safety to home value impacts. There are good reasons why airports with larger runways and planes are located away from residential areas. Please do not ignore those reasons, and please do not allow this to happen in the midst of an area heavily surrounded by residential homes.

Too many residents in the flight path will be impacted -- Willow Run is nearby and can benefit from the added traffic.

I live in the Stonebridge neighborhood. The small jets and particularly the U of M helicopter fly directly over our house regularly causing our dishes and windows to vibrate loudly. I can't imagine what a full size jet would do. Additionally the safety factors of have large jets overhead and an expanded runway. From a safety and noise pollution perspective we are against this. There are plenty of other airports nearby to accommodate these jets.

Please I beg you not to lengthen the Ann Arbor Municpal Airport runway. I live on Lohr Road at the west end of the primary runway and can attest to the danger the airport already poses, the damage the existing air traffic has already caused to my home and the negative impact it has had on my daily life. Extending the runway will diminish the property values of the surrounding subdivisions, thereby causing a significant erosion of the tax base.

Please don't do this expansion, it will not serve the residents of Ann Arbor.

Our family respectfully, but STRONGLY, oppose the Ann Arbor airport runway expansion proposal. The need is simply not there, the risks too great and reasonable aviation alternatives exist with DTW and Willow Run.

There is a large family of deer (approximately 10-12) who are in the field next to Lohr Rd in the morning and they come back out at dusk. They live in the forest to the south of the field. We live directly across from the field and it would be a shame to have these deer displaced because of the runway expansion. The letter discussing all of the other economical, pollution and residential disruptions was on point. I also wanted to add a personal reason.
