A FAMILY HOME

I am Mark Bridge, a retired police officer and currently a serving army officer appointed as the North West region NHS Military Liaison Officer during the pandemic. Together with my wife Sophia a serving police officer, we are looking to build a new family home with our two children, Daniel and Louisa. We bought a plot adjoining our current house that already benefits from planning approval for a new build house at 265m2 [APP/18/01026]. Following purchase of the site, we have explored minor changes to the approved design to accommodate our specific family needs in respect of our son Daniel who has a disability that will require lifelong support and care. Unlike his peers, Daniel will live with us for as long as we can provide his one-to-one care with any additional care support he may require during his life. Our new home has been designed to ensure that Daniel can benefit from independence whilst staying within the security and support of his family unit. Our proposed forever-home is only 2m2 larger (0.7%) than the already approved scheme. A planning application [APP/20/00962] was submitted last year to gain approval for these design amendments. This application was validated by Wirral Council on 4th August 2020 and is still awaiting determination. Naturally, there were very few negative objections to the proposals, which are in keeping with the local area and the council’s published policies. Nonetheless, Wirral Council propose to refuse our application, leaving our family in limbo.

We simply want to build a new family home which is carer compliant and future proof in order to provide an appropriate quality of life for our son’s current and future additional needs for the benefit of our family unit.

To help us a purposeful forever home please can you sign this petition in favour of application APP/20/00962.
