It is so important to share support for this disease, mental health issues are real and debilitating, the impacts are widespread and more needs to be done to create an inclusive and safe culture in and around AFL.

This is a must. Not just a round, but what is the support from clubs and the AFL to help ALL players transition away from the game. I have seen it firsthand what how the military fails its members… their scrutiny is nowhere near what an AFL player has.

Fully support a mental health round but it’s more than a jumper & raising funds. We need to open up the doors for those that need or can see getting help is ok. It’s more than just asking are you OK. AFL could change do many lives with having a mental health round.

As someone who worked full time in the AFL as a physiotherapist for almost a decade, I have seen first hand the mental health challenges that many people have faced both inside and outside of the industry.
The AFL is but one very small snapshot of the community at large, but it is fortunate enough to have a large voice and an ability to spread a message to a large portion of the Australian community. A dedicated mental health round can be another great tool used to spread this incredibly important message to help create a positive change in society.
