In 2024, participation in Australian Rules Football exceeded 528,000.

By 2033, the AFL has targeted 1 million participants.

Every year, thousands of people are lost to Mental Health - and millions more are impacted.

Sign this petition to support the growing group of voices asking for a dedicated AFL Round for Mental Health.

Especially with the end of Spud’s Round. Especially given the recent deaths of Adam and Troy Selwood. Especially with the ever increasing struggles of people with mental health, me included, yea it’s essential.

This is so important especially in male dominant sports. There is still a lot of stigma on speaking up when you’re struggling and the afl and media need to be more supportive of this not only for a dedicated around but throughout the season

It’s devastating how prevalent this is in our sport and much needs to be done not only to raise awareness but provide support to athletes in navigating their careers and post-athletic lives, starting from grassroots education.

Living in a country town with country footy, mental health is so important. Suicide affects the clubs and players, community and supporters. The sport allows an outlet and we need to be promoting mental health to reduce the stigma, get players talking.

Absolutely - but I also feel it needs to have monetary support thrown behind it for much needed funding for the organisations. There isn't enough support available for those in need. Perhaps the AFL could donate proceeds from the round toward mental health services.

We need to normalise mental health first aid. Encourage young men to speak up and support each other. The AFL play an enormous role in men’s health, the players are not only role models but a voice for young men. If we want to see the change we need to be the change
