We're asking for action from the Mayor of London and TfL to make changes to the dangerous Tulse Hill Gyratory

The Tulse Hill Gyratory is broken. Every day, people walking, cycling, and driving through are put at risk by the outdated and unsafe 1960's road design. Since 2010, hundreds of people have been injured or killed here, including the tragic deaths of two pedestrians and a motorcyclist. It's one of South London’s most dangerous junctions—and nothing has fundamentally changed for over a decade.

Limited safety works have recently been delivered - but more needs to happen. Sadly, a further serious incident happened on the gyratory on 6th June. Proposals for a re-design were worked up by TfL in close cooperation with the local community - but the proposals did not progress given the prioritisation of other projects and TfL's difficult financial position subsequently.

Residents, businesses and local groups are calling for changes to the one-way road system, with measures to be explored including the potential for two-way traffic working, safer crossings and other measures, better facilities for cyclists, bus users and those visiting to shop, improved public realm, and a better, more welcoming place for everyone.

We’re pleased that TfL recognise the issue and are therefore asking the Mayor of London and TfL to work positively and constructively together with the local community and the new group Transform Tulse Hill with the eventual aim of implementing changes, as has been done to most of the other gyratories that used to exist across London. We don't want to see Tulse Hill being left behind, and more life-changing accidents happening.

Let’s transform Tulse Hill from a danger zone into a people-first gateway for South London that also works better for the many drivers who use it.

✍️ Add your name, address and postcode. Join the call. Mr Mayor - please work with us to fix the gyratory - before more lives are lost or seriously affected.

Too many near misses on this stretch. We need actual protected lanes and better crossings not just more paint on the road.

I avoid cycling through here at all costs. It is absolute chaos for anyone not in a car. Needs sorting out properly.

Tulse hill junction is a total nightmare. Honestly hate driving thru it and feel for the people walking. Fix this mess before another person gets hurt.

Used to walk my kids to school this way but the traffic speed is just mental. Too dangerous for families now.

So much potential - busy train station-shops-art- kids cycling to local schools- way into central London via Herne Hill/ Railton LTN- yet- Tulse Hill Junction still is a massive deadly highway- prioritising speeding cars and parking at the expense of everyone else

I lived in North and East London for 28 years, cycling and walking everywhere. When I moved to Tulse Hill, due to economic reasons not choice, my only way of getting around became a stressful misery. In the 3 years I've been here the abuse, physical and verbal, I have experienced is ridiculous. I now have a back injury from a scooter driver going into the back of me. He wasn't looking at the road ahead but his phone satnav. I can't blame him entirely as it's an unpleasant pressured job.
