Thanks to everyone who contributed to the effort to get the first
section of Ukiah's Rail Trail completed! Finally! It's great, but now we want
more. We want our community to be made safe for everyone, especially our
most vulnerable users, our children and elderly. We want to be able to
comfortably walk and ride our bikes for routine activities. We
understand that transportation projects can be expensive, but it's time
to invest in our transportation in a way that reflects that we don't
always want to drive. Please move forward with efforts to extend the Rail Trail!

The level of interest in expanding the rail trail has grown beyond my initial expectations. It is encouraging to see our community align on the necessity of accessible infrastructure for all residents.

I use the trail daily and see many people of all ages enjoying this great stretch of trail. More trails are needed in our community to provide safe walk/bike routes to work and school for everybody. It encourages healthy habits and reduces traffic. I've even lost a few pounds biking to work every day!
I don't currently live in the city limits, but would spend more time there spending locally if I felt that I could walk from one section of town to another safely and off the main arteries.
Current N. & S. traffic in Ukiah consists of busy streets that allow street-side parking. The rail trail is very important for providing pedestrian safety. The trail also provides a carbon free route to grocery stores for residents.
We love to ride our bikes on it from Norton Street to Gobbi, to get groceries from the Co-op and Safeway, and back. It's so great to have a safe-feeling bike trail over a long distance!
i work in Ukiah and enjoy having "walking meetings" with my colleagues on the rail trail. I would love to see it extended the length of Ukiah and eventually all the way to Redwood Valley.

I have ridden the rail trail and I can say it is very nice. I wish I could extend up to Redwood Valley.

Love the trail. It does seem to attract vandalism (this is why we can't have nice things, lol), but the same is true for other towns with trails. Would be great if pedestrians could travel as far as the college or Lake Mendocino without having to ride/walk along State Street.
