The Troup County Board of Education should repeal the rule of only allowing high school seniors to exempt finals

Recently, the Troup County Board of Education put in place a rule that would only allow high school seniors to exempt finals. This rule will only punish the smartest kids of each grade level who work all year to receive exemption from their final exams as a reward for all their hard work. The board members, as well as Dr. Cole Pugh should repeal this rule and continue to let exemptions be a reward to the best students of each grade.

While I do respect the administrators and everyone in their respective places, I do strongly disagree with this decision. Exempting final exams works as an incentive for students who consistently strive for academic success. Therefore I request that the b.o.e. reconsider this proposal/rule.
I've never had to take a final before because I work all year round to keep my grades up and absences/tardies to a minimum, as well as many of my peers do. It's not fair if all that work does not get rewarded. Plus, students take enough standardized tests throughout the year, why add another one to the kids who excel in class?
As a former student of the Troup County School system, I looked forward to being able to exempt my finals every year. It was that extra push I needed to make sure that I made good grades, arrived to class on time, and had good attendance. This is an incentive that I think that many students look forward to.
For someone whose made a 4.0 and higher GPA for the past 2 years and missed no days with exception of activity absence approved, this is COMPLETELY unfair. Pugh, what made this seem like a good idea?
Changing this ruling without adequate discussion or notice has proven to be a nuisance to our family. We have had to totally revamp our holiday plans and cancel a vacation. Please reconsider.
Plz don't because if people have high grades and fail the test then it will lower there grades
This is crazy. I've worked hard to keep a 3.8 gpa and this is what I get. It makes me not want to work hard

Honestly exempting finals was one of the best things about high school. It made me more motivated to do good in class, so I could get out a couple days earlier. It also made me not miss school as much, because being excused from those last few days made it all worth it.
