I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people joined this effort since yesterday. This momentum belongs entirely to those of you who spoke up about these delays.

These unnecessary delays further exacerbate the issue of client access due to the growing shortage of mental health providers in Texas. These largely computerized checks and verifications can reasonably be expedited to a 6 week maximum waiting period. Texans deserve better.
I graduated from my Master's program in August and didn't get my intern license until January! The slow turnaround is losing money for counselors and depriving Texas of mental health providers who are sorely needed in many areas.
I am an LPCS and my interns are suffering because they are missing out on job opportunities. A 6 month turn around time is unacceptable.
As an LPC intern, I have colleagues who have waited 4 months or more to become fully licensed. I do not want the same thing to happen to me. The lenghty wait impacts us financially and impedes our ability to move to the next level in our careers.
This issue has haunted professionals in Texas and has cost thousands of dollars per applicant in lost wages and unnecessary supervision following license submission. It hurts everyone involved because the license system staffing isn't tied to incoming funds and application numbers, but to legislation based FTE positions.
It’s not fair to students who invest in becoming licensed nor is it fair to clients we can be servicing in our beloved state.
I agree on this. I’m about to take my exam and only thing discouraging from moving to other positions is the length of time needing to wait for certification process time. Way too long!

This and all responses from this office takes entirely too long. I waited 8 months to find out they didn’t want to approve my application to be an LPC-S then I had to go before the board to plead my case. They awarded it to me but 8 month just to find out there was a problem?!?! Insane!
