So many of our children have had accidents on the slide/climbing wall/monkey bar area of this playground, it is now time to ask for money to be spent changing it to something more suitable.
The issues are as follows:
• The ladder up to the slide is not safe for smaller children, who are able to climb a few steps. They are very slippery, plus they are high and have big gaps to allow children to fall through
• The area at the top of the ladder is very high and has no barrier to prevent children falling over the edge
• The monkey bars are far too high - most children need help from an adult, and it is too high for an adult to assist properly
• The climbing wall is too high for any children who go to the playground
Considering this is a highly used playground, particularly after school, it should be suitable for purpose. It is close to Mudeford Infants and Mudeford Juniors, and to local preschools, so the children who use the playground are generally between 1-11. It would be more appropriate to have a slide suitable for younger children, and far safer

I have spent the last few afternoons observing the park and watching children struggle with the current equipment. It confirms that the design flaws are not just isolated incidents but a systemic danger to the students in our neighborhood. I am currently compiling these observations into a formal report to present to the local council.

Reaching this level of support confirms that my concerns regarding the playground equipment are shared by many families in our area. It is heartening to see our community come together to prioritize the safety of our children at Mudeford Recreation Park. We have gained enough momentum to begin formal discussions with the local council about necessary improvements.

Totally agree with the highlighted reasons. I can't sagely assists my children with the monkey bars as so high and I'm only 5ft 2. Ive also seen many children fall on the ladder
My son who is 3 lost his footing on the platform and literally fell onto his neck and head! He has also been pushed by children when on it before and luckily I was there to support him. The climbing wall is pointless as no children are able to do it and again is very high. The ladder bars have no anti slip grip to them and are very dangerous. The playground is not maintained very well and I have had to ring the council on many occasions to report damage. There are a lot of young children who play in this park and safety standards are really not up to standard.
I agree that this should be changed for the sake of safety of young children. Trusting & praying this forthcoming.
I often take my minded children to this park, and agree with the fact that, it isn't safe for the younger children, something a little suitable and safer would be better, I shouldn't have to not let my little ones miss out

There is this park and the one in someford next to the little school and that is a bad slide set up too.

my two year old loves this park but the lack of barriers around the tall slide makes it difficult to take him when I'm on my own as two adults are needed to unsure he stays safe.
