Full consultation, with parents, regarding St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Multi Academy Conversion.

We the undersigned are concerned that the community of St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School have not been adequately consulted or given all the facts about academy conversion as part of a Multi Academy Company. We demand an open and democratic consultation based on full and unbiased information, a public meeting with speakers for and against and a community vote.

If l get a vote on who runs the country then I'm fairly sure l can make the right choice on a vote for if we go to an academy, so far consultation has been sketchy. If its such a good idea Debate it tells me why- put it to a public vote - get the parents buy-in!
I just don't know enough about this conversion and want the hard facts. What happens to staff, can they just be shipped from school to school? What about SEN children, does the external support go? And how about if we find ourselves in special measures again, I assume support from another school like Colmore is gone? Parents are entitled to have their questions answered.
The transparency of SEN funding is one concern its hard enough as it is to find out information with a state framework in place and legal requirements. What happens to transparency across all areas when a school becomes an academy?
Why is this all being rushed through behind closed doors? We deserve to know exactly whats happening to our school before any final decisions get made. Just give us a proper meeting and be honest with us for once.
I believe in the academy model but the proposed MAC is simply too large. Why is a large secondary even in the mix? It cannot share learning in the same way as the primary schools can. In my opinion it will hold all of the power. I suggest that St Joseph's enter an academy with one or two other single form Catholic primary schools so that they can pool resources, experience support with moderation and have an equal share of the power.

I believe St.Joseph's parents have the right to hear all the pros and cons of Academy status and are entitled to a proper debate.I am a concerned grandparent who also spent thirty nine years working for Birmingham Education Authority as a teacher.I am not convinced that Academy status would be the best thing for either pupils or staff.St Joseph's has a wonderful history and ethos,why rock the boat ?
