Saving The Story Book Home at 401 Merito Pl

Many of you grew up with me in this sweet home on Merito Pl. The Frankel's moved out about 6 years ago and the current owner, an out-of-town investor, is looking to demo the property. I have been working with the Palm Springs Historic Preservation Board to designate the property a Class 1 historic site that would ensure the home is preserved for generations to come. An independent study found that the property is worthy of this distinction due in large part to the unique Tudor style architecture of the home (the only one of it's kind in the Valley!) The recommendation for Class 1 designation is now going to the City Council for a final vote and we need your help!
Of course this home is very meaningful to me, but I believe it is meaningful to much of our Palm Springs family and friends as well. If the home is special to you - be it you swam with my brothers and me as kids, you lined-up for a flu-shot or check-up from my dad in the kitchen or if you just love the unique fairy tale surprise as you turn the corner in Old Las Palmas, we want to hear from you! We are looking for letters to the City Council explaining what this home means to you, your community and (or) the history of Palm Springs. You can email these letters to me at dodgerdaisy14@gmail.com or send them directly to City Council (email below).
The city is evolving and it is awesome to see, but it is up to us OG desert dwellers to make sure the charming corners that have made this place special for so long are not lost in the shuffle or eroded away by out-of-town investors who have no interest in the fabric or history of our community. Thank you for your support as we work save the story book home on Merito Pl! Please email me with any questions.
Thank you,
Sarah Frankel
