The Stillman Bubble was closed in November 2017. We, the Friends of the Mel Stillman Community Tennis Center (MSCTC), are petitioning the City of Boston and Boston Public School Department to grant us a 20+ year lease to manage the courts where CHAD Tennis has been located for 25+ years. If we do not get a lease, CHAD Tennis will cease to exist! Please note that for the past 5 years we have been providing thousands of hours of free tennis to the Warren Prescott School Physical Education Curriculum, the Edward Middle School After School Program and the Charlestown Community Center. This will all go away if we are not granted a 20+ year lease. We are not asking for any money from the City. However, we need to be able to build and operate a year-round facility so we can continue the mission of CHAD Tennis. Please sign the petition in support of CHAD Tennis.
Our Mission: To engage young people of all ability levels in activities that promotes a healthy lifestyle while also providing the support necessary to help them achieve their goals both on and off the tennis court.

I grew up in Charlestown and I was part of the Chad Tennis program. I was the only girl the first year. I think it is a great program for the children of Charlestown and should continue being part of that community.
CHAD was a great program for me, while a was a teenager, I was able to stay away from the street activities. I believe the program has a lot to offer the community.
I support CHAD Tennis and the Mel Stillman Community Tennis Center. These programs are a necessity for the Children of this Community. Especially year round bubble access. The bubble was definitely an asset to this Community. It allowed the Children from the surrounding Schools the space and opportunity for exercise and recreation that is literally not available at their Schools.
It is a disgrace for the City to delay this lease any longer. The Stillman courts are an asset to the community on many levels, and Charlestown deserves to have this facility, particularly whereby we are not asking the City for any money.
This non-profit tennis facility is a unique, urban gem, where thousands of children and adults, from across the racial and economic spectrum, have played tennis and received instruction. It's difficult to imagine how the City could justify closing it; I hope and pray that they don't.

This is a really important community resource - particularly for some urban youth that otherwise would have no access to learn tennis which is generally considered a more elite sport with limited access for those without the means to join a private club. Please bring it back!
