Add Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression to the SAISD Non-Discrimination Statement
San Antonio Independent School District, or otherwise known as SAISD, protects against the discrimination of a student or employee on the basis of race, religion, color, age, national origin, sex, and disability. However, the statement has failed to keep abreast with the social and political advancements of today and include sexual or gender preference/expression among the many other reasons a member of SAISD can be discriminated against. The problem we plan to solve is SAISD’s lack of inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity in its Non-Discrimination Statement as it is a matter of protection of equal education and safety for all -- not a matter of personal belief.

As a teacher, I am in full support of all students having a safe place to learn.
I am certain SAISD cares about ALL it's students, and, therefore, I am confident SAISD will add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of those who must be protected by the non discrimination policy. As a resident of SA, I would be very pleased to assist however I can to see this through. SAISD is No Place for H8. Thank you.
To discriminate against a person based off their sexual orientation is a genuinely pathetic and archaic way of conducting ones self let alone a whole school system
I hope saisd finally comes to terms with what they originally promised, trans people are people too. It's truly disheartening to see so many people discriminated against while organizations say they will "protect" them.
I am also a student at YWLA and have seen discriminatory actions against the LGBT community, which I am also a part of. This would change everything for us.
