Transportation is California's main driver of climate change, accounting for 38% of total greenhouse gas emissions. We believe accessible and safe transportation should be a right for all citizens of The Bay. As urban sprawl gets more dramatic, commute times will continue to get longer. Our city's roads are built for a limited number of cars, as demonstrated by the lack of parking downtown and even at San Jose State University. This is also a social issue, as some people need help finding methods to go to work, the bank, school, and other necessities. Although these problems persist, the VTA has failed to make substantial improvements, and its staff has demonstrated a lack of personal responsibility.
