Santa Clarita has notoriously bad traffic, and its residents often must deal with hours of commuting. During rush hour, there is bumper to bumper traffic awaiting at every stop light. Emergency services regularly cannot get through the flow of traffic. It is an absolute frenzy, and people often get road rage. Crossing the street can be deadly because people are in a rush to get home and do not pay enough attention to the roads. Personally, my family and I have almost been killed a few times trying to cross the street. Now every time we do, we have to be extra careful. Unfortunately, civil engineers may not have realized how compact the city has become. These tight streets lead to more car accidents and cost people their lives. One major contributing factor to this problem is the fact that Santa Clarita is the 3rd largest city in Los Angeles. It has a population of 213,411 people and is growing steadily. To accommodate for the growing population, Santa Clarita builds new homes and apartment complexes regularly. Sadly, this constant growth is having a negative impact on city streets infrastructure. In the end, the city of Santa Clarita should start looking to implement more alternative routes throughout the city.
