We, the undersigned residents of Williams, Oregon, because of our concern for the headwaters of Rock Creek and all waterways downstream, urge Rough & Ready Lumber to modify current timber harvest plans for their property at T39S R5W Section 28 Tax lot 2600 as follows:
1. Do a selective cut instead of a clearcut
2. Increase the stream buffer to 100’
3. Should you choose to ignore the pleas of this community and proceed with a clearcut, to abstain from spraying any herbicides.
Clearcutting increases soil erosion and water turbidity. I understand the forestry principles behind conventional planting and harvesting, but it’s time we start doing it better.
