We only have one chance to do what's right for all of the beings who reside in this valley. Please choose kindness.

Please do not allow this clearcut. This plan will damage the fragile topsoil, will adversely affect our streams and wildlife and encourage future catastrophic wildfires.

Clearcutting increases soil erosion and water turbidity. I understand the forestry principles behind conventional planting and harvesting, but it’s time we start doing it better.

I grew up in this area, and have witnessed erosion and damages caused by clearcutting. Please reconsider, and consider selective thinning to keep our forests asnd streams healthy.

As a Williams community member who lives, works, and plays in East Fork of Williams Creek watershed, I honor that you, too, have a right to make money and provide for your family. You also have a commitment to your mission statement: Our Mission: To convert a valuable raw material into the highest quality lumber product possible in an environmentally responsible manner. Rough & Ready Lumber Co will strive to operate our facilities in a manner that will provide stable employment in the local economy utilizing each log to achieve optimum quality and fiber recovery. We are committed to modern, responsible stewardship on all timberlands, public or private. The "environmentally responsible manner" and " modern, responsible stewardship" should not, to my mind, include clear-cutting, herbicides, or close-creek zones. Please consider having an open community discussion to address how we might help mitigate the extra costs of avoiding these practices.

Here we are trying to save this lovely tract of headwaters forest for the second time after stopping Boise Cascade from logging it in 2001
