Petition to the Government of New Brunswick to stop QIFS cuts to New Brunswick Daycares

On Thursday April 23rd, the Gallant Government announced a cut of $2.4 million to Early Learning and Child Care (Day Care) operators in New Brunswick (QIFS), effective June 1, 2015. With this reduction, these daycares will be forced to consider eliminating spaces, laying off staff, reducing staff wages and benefits, or even closing the doors outright and/or increasing rates to parents.
We do not want to do any of these!
We believe in affordable, accessible, and quality Early Learning and Child Care and ask you to contact all government MLAs at [email protected] and copy the Opposition MLAs at [email protected] to help stop this cut, and sign this online petition. I currently have my son enrolled in early learning in Sussex and wouldn't be able to afford it if it cost anymore. He is hard of hearing and it's important for his speech and development to have opportunities like this in his early years.
I am a early childhood education worker and cutting quif will means loss of jobs in our field and out future generations will be missing out on quality child care because parents will opt for private babysitters bevause rates will need to be raised.
Unbelievable if the daycare are forced to rise prices this of is who are not in daycare subsidies will be working for nothing!!! A already pay a third of my wadges to child care and that's for 1 child ... I won't be able to do it for two ..
As a family with two parents working full time and two young children, we rely on our daycare. If one of us stops working bc we cannot afford the new, higher daycare rates, the government makes less money from our taxes. Lose-lose. This is an extremely short sighted move.
These hardworking women might as well stop going to college to get their ECE and start working at McDonalds for a living. The government has again devalued them and the service they provide for our children . Embarrassing.
Stop making it so hard to find trustworthy and caring environments for our children!
This is just wrong. Whats next? How far are they willing to go? Clearly they do not have the right people for these type of decisions.

Very important that the government re-evaluate these cuts and reflect on other opportunities to cut spending, such as catering for meetings and events, requiring staff to carpool when possible, and reducing travel budgets. These are our children, they deserve the best!
