I oppose further commercial use of residential neighborhoods

November's City elections brought in a group of politicians "more resident friendly and less development focused." ZBA & MPC members should take note that things are changing. This is your test. Get with it.

This place has been operating as an event space for years. If the intention is to operate the space in a way that may now impact the neighborhood in a negative way via noise, large crowds etc. then I am opposed to the house being used in this way since this area is a “neighborhood and a sense of place” still exists here. I believe large group use of the building, even I. The daylight hours could be an issue as there is no parking here. i don’t know this, but I would doubt too, if there are sprinklers in the house in the event of a fire, if large crowds are in the building.

Stop trying to use the same parking spaces for 10 different purposes!

I am tired of businesses and rental properties ruining downtown character and quality of life. People who live downtown have been disregarded, and it needs to stop.

Don't rob old-town Savannah of it's great historic value and charm still as a place to live.

An assembly hall? This is a residential area with limited parking to begin with. Our residential space is so over run by VRBOs as it is which continues to take away from the quality of our neighborhood. The burden this would create is a nightmare waiting to happen. Please remember we, as residents, pay our taxes and have the right to be protected by our city government.

I oppose this zoning change and parking variance. We don't need higher density or to lessen the requirement for use to provide off street parking.

This is the exact reason I sold my home downtown and moved. The city needs to think of the RESIDENTS, not tourists and $$$$$. Savannah is wonderful, but it is becoming Savannahland and it’s disgusting. As a native, I truly resent the destruction of my beautiful hometown. It’s about quality of life for residents , not just the $$$$$.

This project sounds like a very bad idea which will negatively affect the residents. An assembly hall is not compatible with the neighborhood and certainly not compatible with the Landmark District. We, the residents, already feel endangered by the emphasis on commercial ventures that are degrading the quality of life in our Historic Districts.

It is hard enough to find parking in this neighborhood as it is, heaven forbid something is going on when it's street cleaning time. There are other properties does down for sale that you just know are going to take up 10 to 20 additional spots in the near future. This is no longer a quaint city.

We vote to deny both the special use of an Assembly Hall and attending parking variances requested by 611 Whitaker Street (dba The Whitman)

There must be boundaries drawn to allow Savannah to continue to be a place where one knows their neighbors and has a sense of community and connection between the people who want to call it home. Without thoughtful limits we risk having our beautiful old houses end up being nothing but a collection of tourist motels
