Currently the Broward County School District does not allow teachers to tutor in the school after school hours. This petition would require every Broward public school to have a common area for after school tutoring. This common area would be an area where teachers could tutor other students in the school after the school day has ended and also allow for high school students to tutor elementary school kids for volunteer hours. This would allow our highly qualified teachers ( who already do so much for so little) tutor students in need of assistance after the school day has completed. Having such a place to tutor; would allow the children of working parents to be tutored while in aftercare, students that need a quiet place to be taught (as opposed to a loud house that may have multiple siblings) learn freely and would also ensure for the protection of the student and teacher that no one was in a one on one situation.

The district has yet to acknowledge our request for dedicated tutoring spaces but the silence just proves that we need to keep this pressure up. Post the link to your Facebook feed today and email your local school board representative to demand they open these common areas for our students.

The momentum behind this push proves families are ready for these tutoring spaces in every school. Post this link on your Facebook feed and email your local school board member to tell them we need an answer.

Let them tutor! Its ridiculous they cant use the building after hours to help kids out. Keeps everyone safe and makes sense.

My son really struggles with math and it would be so much easier if he could just stay at school for help instead of me trying to teach him after dinner when we are both tired

Don’t make it hard for teachers to make money when they don’t make enough as it is.

I work with school-age children. I wouldn't say eliminate afterschool programs, but, tutoring for those who need extra support in one way or another would be beneficial. The teachers who provide tutorial service should be available to serve without conflict regarding other job requirements.

Please kill Common Core and allow this kind of tutoring our teachers could use the extra money and as a single parent Mom it would help me BIG time

As a parent with children that benefit from tutoring I know how beneficial it is for both (working parent and student) to be able to obtain the much needed support on campus right after the school day. Tutoring teachers would have access to student's teacher for feedback on areas of greater need. Win win for all (parents, students & teachers)!!
