We understand that COVID has made our current education situation less than ideal. While we would all prefer to have the “normal” situation, we understand that COVID makes that impossible.

Whereas the COVID virus can live on surfaces for up to three days and it is known to be spread more by younger people.

And whereas we had at least two positive cases of COVID in our group this past fall and at least one other possible exposure.

And whereas several of our classmates travel from out of town, or out of state for class.

We respectfully request that spring semester be structured with two groups having one week on campus and one week off campus and that patient contact days be scheduled for Monday or Friday when possible or announced as far in advance as possible.

We understand that the situation may change at any time including going to an all-online situation. We are prepared to be flexible in the case but feel that it would be safer for us and more convenient to have class set up like it was for the orthotics class in the fall. Having two groups like this allows time over the weekend for the virus to die on surfaces.

The fall schedule worked so much better for everyone. commuting from out of state is a huge risk right now with everything going on and we really need the extra space to stay safe.
