This purpose of this petition is to voice our support for keeping Mary Holmes Junior College (Mary Holmes Seminary) on the list of Historical Landmarks that is maintained by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
I really thought this might just be a small project but seeing the momentum grow is honestly kind of surreal. It feels like people finally care about the history of Mary Holmes just as much as I always have and that makes the late nights worth it.

Mary Holmes has been a landmark in West Point as long as I can remember. Many of my family members have gone there. It would be a shame to tear it down. What would be even greater if the administration building and dorms be repaired. It be even greater if classes could possibly be there again.

My mom worked there until she died. My sister worked and graduated from there as well. I remember running and playing up and down those halls if I had to wait. I also attend the Upward Bound program there.

Keep our history perserved!! This is a part of our heritage as African Americans, this building stands a reminder for generations to come, that we have made great accomplishments, and that we are overcomers. Somehting Of Faith! Let our History and Heritage be known and seen!

Mary Holmes is a Historical Landmark and it would be sad to see it demolished after all the great people it has educated.
