Request for Khalifa University to modify their plans in relation to Final Exams and Final Grades for the fall semester.

Students got a life.

Having on campus final exam might not be a bad idea especially for courses that took online examinations way too far from being fair and reasonable [reducing time limit, increasing the number of questions, showing one question at a time, no backtracking, and mixing the sequence of the questions]. But what’s unreasonable is having to decide to opt the grade into p/f before the final grades are out and what makes it worse is that we only have to choose ONE course.

I’m seriously thinking about killing myself LOL

That’s unfair for us since the country gave us the option to stay at home and study online since the pandemic is not over yet and to not risk any serious thing

I agree with all the point written in the petition. In addition to that, some students live far away from the university. It will be difficult for them to go to the university for every exam since the student dorms are shut down.

I'm not gonna claim I know what goes behind the scenes regarding the decision making process of such a prominent institution, but I know these points for a fact: 1. Making the student decide which course grade to transfer to a P/F grading system without prior knowledge of the letter grade is absolute nonsense. 2. You cannot just give a single chance for P/F conversion to each student. I understand you want to limit it and maybe even remove it completely to maintain academic integrity. But we are living in exceptional circumstances where online learning can't play the role of in-person learning. The minimum (in thus case it can be the maximum) number of P/F conversion chances should be for 3 courses. 3. Having the final exams on campus is a great idea all banter aside. You will be able to ensure academic integrity and will be able to probably evaluate each student. But you cannot have the entire semester being conducted online and ask us to attend for the final exams. Reason is due to us students not having the opportunity to slowly integrate back into in-person classes, and having a clear idea of how we can handle this new-normal in continuing the learning process in-person in these circumstances. Such things might be ignored and be justified by saying that students will not spend much time in uni, they will just do their exams and leave. Well, I am clearly not certified to saying things like this but I don't believe that the coronavirus will run away because it won't have enough time to infect anyone. If it is there, it will strike, simple. 4. I do not know who evaluated the situation as being moderate. The infection numbers are at an all time high in the country, and you didn't change the moderate status since the beginning of the semester. You should really re-evaluate yourselves and share more truthful info about this regard. Thanks for reading if you got here

Finals on campus and no salary and we can’t choose the p/f after the finals, and attending classes on Saturday . I think all those will have a bad effect on students health :)

Risky

Having to chose a course for pass/fail before the final exam is extremely unreasonable. How are supposed to know how we are going to perform in the final? A final could bring you from an A to a C. And the course that we think we need to opt for pass/fail, the professor may do a curve up and we do better than we think we would have. This must be put into serious consideration!

Why are students being put at risk, after being punished the whole semester with extra work, harder exams, impossible exam conditions (like only accessing one Q at a time, not being able to edit an answer, not enough time, no partial credit)?
