This petition stands for justice and equality in the MTG community.

It's not because we want a witch hunt.
It is because we are a community and communities stand together and stand up for others!!!

Wizards of the coast in Magic origins tell us that each Planeswalker has a tumbling point in which their spark ignites, they told us that Sarkhan could be redeemed for his past actions.

Let us tell wizards that real life Planeswalkers also have a tumbling point and can also be redeemed for their past actions!!

We shouldn't do this because he is Zach Jesse an individual.
We should do this because he is one of us, a fellow magic player who has his hopes, dreams, fears, faults, family, friends.

Magic should bring us together and not discriminate!!

United we stand, divided we fall

Unless all federal convicts playing MTG see a ban this severe, Zach Jesse doesnt deserve this.

It's one thing to ban a current criminal who is a danger to the community at present. It is another thing to ban someone who made a bad decision years ago that they have tried to make up for since.

This is reactionary and unfair.

I believe that if WotC has sufficient grounds to justify a life ban of Zach Jesse that they should fully and publicly disclaim such grounds in a transparent manner. Otherwise, this is an individual who does not have a past history, but a single past event who has gone through the process of atonement. As a business, Hasbro/WotC is not required to do business with the individual, however, the decision to do so is murky territory for something unprecedented that sets the grounds for some shady bans in the future. I love Magic, but I refuse to support a company that will take such an extreme action as a buyout of an individual who, for all intents and purposes, has not done anything wrong. I mean, we live in America and the whole point of the penal system is to atone and rectify past transgressions to better adapt citizens to society. Without some clarification, it appears that Hasbro/WotC is opposing that notion. I would hate to part ways with a company that prides itself in it's customer service, however, I would hate even more to do business with a company that plays on such promises and fails to deliver.

Do I have to bring my criminal record to every FNM or what?

There is a difference between feeling unsafe and actually being unsafe. No one would have known that he was convicted of a felony until it was brought up, so why treat him any differently if he's clearly gotten past it and admitted it was a mistake? If this ban has to do with WotC/Hasbro feeling like they will have a tarnished reputation by allowing him to play then that's just sad. There is a difference between feeling unsafe and actually being unsafe, people just need to learn the difference and everyone needs to recognize this. If anyone is doing the fearmongering, it's Drew Levin for bringing up something that didn't concern him, or anyone else for that matter. People can get banned for doxxing/disclosing personal info on a lot of online forums, I don't see the difference between that and what Drew did.

Awful decision, and made one petty shit-stirrer on twitter feel powerful.
