We who have signed this Petition make up a mosaic of people from many countries, ages, races, creeds, and sexual orientations and we wish to thank Shane Bitney Crone for having the courage and strength to share with the world his pain and sorrow over the loss of the love of his life Tom Bridegroom in the video “It can happen to you”. By sharing something that is usually so very private, you have created a positive force of change moving throughout the world. People’s minds and hearts have been opened, people’s commitments have been strengthened, and a dialog has been started. We agree that Equality is not something earned; it is an inalienable right for all human beings. We agree to stand beside Shane Bitney Crone in the fight for equality no matter the opposition or hatred that may come our way. For we must stand together, showing a united front, regardless of our differences real or otherwise. We agree to stand by our brothers and sisters who are going through what Shane and so many others before him, offering them support and giving them comfort. Also to provide resources, education, and support on how to protect yourself regardless of your orientation so it does not happen to anyone else. This means working together to change antiquated laws so that all are treated equally. In Shane’s video he states that he does not know if anyone will listen. Shane your voice has started a beautiful chorus that is growing stronger and louder, and more beautiful each day. The proof of this is the response you've received for Bridegroom Movie, the comments to your initial video, and the over 49,000 human beings that have joined the Facebook page EqualLoveEqualRights.
