GVSU University Singers Offering
As many of you may know, the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Grand Valley State University cut some course offerings for the upcoming Fall 2020 term in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of these courses was University Singers, a non-auditioned mixed choral ensemble. Dr. Kody Wallace, the new Coordinator of Choral Activities at Grand Valley State University, has been able to arrange a deal such that if a requisite number of students are interested in registering for the class it may be re-offered. One of the predominant reasons the department leadership decided not to run the course was uncertainty as to whether students would be interested in the course in an online/hybrid format.
To that end, we, the undersigned, are interested in registering for University Singers. We understand that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the course will be different. Specifically, it is likely that the entire group will not be able to meet at once to rehearse. To address this, we will likely have a hybrid format that allows only small parts of the ensemble to rehearse together at once. This may mean smaller, chamber ensembles form out of the registered students, or we may only rehearse in sectionals. This will be determined by the course instructor, Dr. Kody Wallace.
