Citizens and Visitors of Spearfish:
Thanks in part to your support last year, the City of Spearfish received $400,000 for the construction of phase 1 of the Exit 8 Rec Path extension project which is on schedule to begin in 2021. We are again eligible in 2020 to apply for another $400,000 for the construction of phase 2 which will complete the remaining 1.5 miles connecting the Exit 8 area to the rest of the City. The completion of this project will grow and promote continuity throughout the city, provide a longer path for recreation, and provide a safe alternative form of transportation.
To strengthen the city’s odds of being selected for this grant, we need your support again this year! Please sign the corresponding document to show the grant committee that our community supports our growth and dedication to safe alternative transportation.

The momentum behind this project is finally starting to feel real even if the road ahead remains difficult. Seeing this level of engagement reminds me why I started this fight in the first place.

The process of securing these grants is exhausting and often moves at a pace that feels like standing still. I am still pushing hard behind the scenes to make sure our community stays in the running for this funding.

We hit one hundred signatures today and it has been a long road to get even this far. This project takes so much energy but seeing this level of interest keeps me moving forward.

I strongly support this project. It will help assure much safer non-motorized use along busy roads. The sooner this project is the completed, the safer it for our youth.
Lets make this happen. My children and me are always biking along this road. Pretty scary without a sidewalk.
We use the waking trails all the time. We live in the Reserve and would love to have the trail be connected to exit 8.
Spearfish will never lose when investing in outdoor recreation. This benefits residents and tourists alike.
I love the idea of having our area (exit 8) be connected to the rest of Spearfish and have a safer way for our kids to walk or ride their bikes into town.
More miles = more community!
This program has my full support. The city has such a recreational orientation and this will only help to better serve our growing, active population. Thank you!

With all the logging trucks on McQuigan Road and increasing traffic, the path is a safety need for the increasing walking/biking in this area.
I strongly support this project. It will help assure much safer non-motorized use along busy roads. The sooner this project is the completed, the safer it for our youth.
