Fair points...I might add that none of those colleges discriminate against male professors.
I am not arguing that they don't have the right to do this. I am arguing that doing it is wrong.

What a tough situation... If Asbury is hoping to become self-reliant instead of depending on the government, what they choose to believe and who they choose to support is their business. This absolute need to have others conform to your beliefs seems a little black and white to me.
Of course, I'd have to read about how they discriminate but still...Some colleges are made for only women. I would think it would be inappropriate for men to sign a petition against these institutions because they feel as if they're being discriminated against...

As the initiator of the petition, I should mention that I'm both an alum (Unashamed Class of 2010) and someone who was denied the chance to apply for a position as an adjunct professor. I'll also mention that I still hold this place very dear, despite my complicated relationship with it.

Class of 1970. I interviewed with McIlrath for a dorm advisor position. Several questions pertained to how to interact/report suspected that activity in a dorm room. In 1997 or so found out classmate JY was telling people I was gay. I had not identified myself as gay before that. WTF?

Discrimination of any kind is very un-Christ-like and only turns away people from God. Asbury should lead its community to accept all people with open arms instead of reacting in fear of change. People matter and God works wonders through them when their hearts are open and they seek him. He would not want the Asbury community to close its heart to others through shallow judgements.

Graduated from Asbury College in 1977 and have for a long time shared my Christian faith in China and Taiwan. I am also a gay man who delights in God's will and walks in God's way all to the glory of God. I do hope and pray that Asbury will re-examine their policies regarding homosexuality and holiness as I, along with many others, have demonstrated that the two are compatible and are part of the genuine love of Christ to all people.

As a former straight student, I demand discrimination end. I will NOT support Asbury as long as they discriminate against LGBTQ students.
