One of the only reasons I have decided not to attend Asbury is this horrid discrimination. Being bi myself, I would feel completely unsafe on a campus as unjust as this one.

It pains me to see people hiding who they really are because they fear the repercussions of being known, especially at an institution that claims to show love to the world. Many LGBT students at Asbury University live in hiding because they are afraid of being judged by faculty, staff, and classmates. Labeling something as a "sin" because you don't understand it or don't agree with it, or because it's not the norm is not okay. The Bible may, in fact, be wrong about homosexuality. Please stop acting like you have all the answers. Learn to love others. Live and let live. You don't have to agree on everything. Stop trying to control the lives of your students, and allow them to make their own decisions about right and wrong.

What would Jesus do? To whom did he minister? Think about it.
However, Jesus aside, discrimination is morally and ethically wrong. I sever any support or loyalty to Asbury with the signing of this petition.

I believe Asbury can maintain its stance on homosexuality without engaging in any form of discrimination against those who have chosen an alternate path. It is our mandate as Christians to love those who are different from us. I support this petition wholeheartedly and urge the administrators at Asbury to rethink how they are treating the members of the LGBT community. Jesus' love spoke louder than his words. I urge you all to allow your actions to reflect the same degree of unconditional love and compassion.

At Asbury I learned that we should show others the love of God by our actions. Discrimination and shunning has never been a good tactic to share God's love.
