The corner of FM 93 & Old Hwy 95 in Temple Texas has a two way stop sign. Both roads have high speed limits posted in excess of 50 miles an hour. The stop signs have been ran by many people ending in a fatal outcome.

Yesterday, January 17, 2012 was a parents worse nightmare and horrific day for the community of Academy Texas. A service truck ran the south bound stop sign on Old Hwy 95 @ FM 93 Temple TX hitting a full SCHOOL BUS of CHILDREN AND SCHOOL STAFF. We feel that it is time that this intersection has protective precaution such as warning speed bumps, flashing signs, & a flashing light.

We that have signed this petition feel STRONGLY that there needs to be warning speed bumps, flashing signs, along with a flashing light or even a full stop light at this two way high speed intersection. Not only could this service truck, bus accident been possibly prevented, but also a number of accidents that have taken lives in the last fifteen years (approximate time not to excuse any accidents before this time span).

The cost to save lives has to supersede the cost of putting up the SAFETY PRECAUTIONS needed for this high speed intersection. We pray that as the decision makers consider our petition, that they will keep in mind that they too are fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, and possibly grandparents that want their loved ones to be able to travel on safe roads as well. There is no value that you can put on life or the loss for a child to live a normal life (example: to walk, run, play and have a healthy future). We have to believe that lives and the quality of life are much more valuable than the cost of caution lights and speed bumps.

We ask that you will strongly consider the safe passage needs at this high speed intersection located at FM 93 & Old Hwy 95 Temple Texas as a top priority for the safety of our community.
