South Street and Elliott Street are too narrow for high density housing. 45 units in 6 acres is a lot and they want to have the entrance on South Street... what a joke. That’s a terrible idea. These streets don’t even fit 2 cars side by side!! How are they supposed to carry cars from 45 more units?? Let’s say each townhouse has 1 car, that’s 45 cars. If they have 2 cars each, that’s 90 cars on the regular. We don’t even have that many houses on those streets. These developers don’t care. Please don’t approve this!! Keep it undeveloped or do something that makes more sense like a park with lots of trees/plants as suggested by someone else here.

Not a good idea, heavy traffic, schools with very large groups already. I oppose this change.

The paces foundation applied for 3 different rezoning in downtown Buford. The one by me will be built on 17 acres if we don’t stop them. Don’t need more traffic. I like the nature preserve by me. Why don’t Buford do something else like that?

If you don’t want any new developments then you need to get Phillip and his nephew out of office. If no one runs against him this year then quit complaining. Only way to help with growth in Buford. They keep passing zoning for the large industrial places such as Amazon or behind Jimmy John’s/Bravo shopping center because it brings in large tax revenues. Having multi family will do the same and that’s what he likes. Don’t like it???? Make a change in the commission.

I echo Natasha that there is nothing here for people that require affordable housing. New construction affordable housing is an oxymoron. New construction is very expensive and current residents end up paying for it. It’s unfair to the residents that paid market price for their homes in the surrounding area. City of Buford is heading down the wrong direction by even considering this. If they have to build something, they need to do single-family homes, which will raise the value of other homes and add more quality residents that will be able to contribute to the nice downtown restaurants and businesses such as Bare Bones Steakhouse, Tani Thai, Aqua Terra Bistro, M4 hair salon and more. People in affordable housing would not have enough disposable income to contribute to our local economy and help Buford thrive. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh, but it’s a fact. Or, add a nice park with walking trails and playgrounds for ALL to enjoy. Or, add sidewalks for the countless people I see walking or jogging for leisure and widen the streets so 2 cars can comfortably fit in opposite traffic. Buford schools are known to be amazing, but this will only detract from our kids in schools. It’ll add burden to families that hold their kids to higher standards and overload the teachers. Buford has the potential to be its own version of affluent towns like Johns Creek, Suwanee, pockets of Duluth and pockets of Peachtree Corners. As a resident of Buford, I demand better from our city government. If we’re growing, then we need to grow in the correct direction, and this is not it.

One of the best things about Buford is the lack of apartments. Don't change. Keep Buford Beautiful

My husband and I purchased a home in this area specifically because we were seeking a certain standard of living. We are not opposed to providing assistance to the less fortunate and we support organizations that assist them with elevating their standard of living. With that being said, how is erecting housing in this area proving them the opportunity to raise their standard of living? Outside of the housing, what else will they be able to afford here? There is no public transportation outside of the express buses. We all know that the job market is not in abundance here. What will they do, just remain in their affordable housing? Be realistic and build affordable housing in areas that will afford the people an opportunity to grow. Not in an area that may render them trapped, frustrated and angry because they are still finding it difficult to succeed. When people become trapped, frustrated and angry, it leads to desperation. Such desperation will lead to crime that they would not have considered if they were not placed in the position to be trapped. I did not purchase a home in this area to be subjected to such situations and to see my property value go down. Nor do I want to be forced to relocate, which will place my livelihood and ability to assist others at risk. Therefore, I strongly oppose the rezoning of 490 South Street, Buford, GA

Not intrested in this type of housing in the community.

Schools are already overcrowded, traffic is unbearable and there's already massive development going on right now.

I’m opposed to this development. Our city is family based and supports education. This invites crime, sex offenders and child trafficking. Families cannot live here.
