We, the residents of 20th Street, Brooklyn, and the surrounding community, call upon the Department of Transportation and our elected officials to change 20th Street to a one-way street west of 7th Avenue so that all westbound traffic is moved to Prospect Avenue. 20th Street, a local two-way truck route, is ill-equipped for the number of trucks it is required to accommodate, compromising the safety and well-being of its inhabitants and the structural integrity of its buildings. 20th Street is hardly wider than many one-way streets in the area. Its foundation cannot support the weight of passing trucks and its buildings quake. Truck drivers, frustrated by frequent traffic jams on the street, routinely honk their horns. A recent survey shows that more than three quarters of the street's inhabitants are residential; on such a street, two-way truck traffic is a blight and a hazard. 20th Street should be closed to westbound vehicles west of 7th Avenue. Westbound traffic would turn right on 20th Street and 7th Avenue, head north three blocks, and turn left on Prospect Avenue.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum this is gaining and I honestly never thought it would move this quickly. This attention is entirely down to the neighbors who took the time to speak up for our street.

my house literally shakes every time a semi goes by. it is insane that they let these massive lorries drive down such a narrow residential street. move them to prospect already

The noise is unbearable. I cant even have a normal conversation in my living room without a truck blaring its horn outside. enough is enough
