Background: 1709-1711 Marais Street had a generational family living in it. When they sold it, the investor immediately boarded it up and let it willfully fall into this state. It is salvageable.

SAVE THIS HOUSE: We, the residents of this neighborhood, oppose the demolition of 1709-1711 Marais Street. The historical fabric of our neighborhood is under assault and we will not stand for it. We request that the owners not be allowed a demolition permit and receive maximum daily fines until the house is repaired.

Updates

The vultures who own 1709-1711 Marais Street think they can just wait for the roof to cave in so they can flip the dirt for profit. I am in contact with city officials to demand these demolition permits are denied immediately. They are trying to erase our history for cheap gain and I am done waiting for them to do the right thing.

Destroying a historical building for the sake of erecting a monstrosity is not only abhorrent, ot also doesn't align with the value we place on historical landmarks in New Orleans.

We need to stop predatory builders and asset stripping in this neighborhood. Enough!

As a neighborhood resident, I do not want this house to be demolished. Our historical homes are part of what makes our city and neighborhood great. Please do not allow them to receive a demolition permit and fine them until they make the necessary repairs.

Demolishing this house would be a major loss to the community. Especially if it means replacing it with another apartment building.

Please don’t let a developer destroy this house. Keep our neighborhood authentic. It means so much to the long time residents.
