The Minneapolis Downtown Council is shortening the annual Aquatennial festival from ten days to four days this year, without much explanation. The consequence of the shortened festival is the omission of the Aquatennial Beach Bash held at Lake Calhoun each year. The Beach Bash is where the beloved Sand Castle Competition and classic Milk Carton Boat Races are typically held.
