We, the signed below, are requesting that the Lafayette Airport Commission provide Minority-Owned Businesses with a fair opportunity to compete for those contracts relating to the construction of the new Airport Terminal. As such, we ask that the Commission, through its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program, establish a DBE goal that is representative of the demographic makeup of the community. We are requesting the commission set a DBE goal of 25% ($7.5 million) of the $30 million sales tax revenue collected.

The Airport Commission thought they could ignore our demands quietly but the momentum behind this petition proves they cannot hide from us anymore. We are forcing them to confront the reality that this community demands real equity in these contracts.

Minority contractors should be part of the growth of the city in which they live in not only are they proud of their city A share of the work that is being done to expand the city is something that minority own companies need

Inclusion is critical for strengthening communities, building capacity, decreasing crime and increasing the productivity and contributions of the disenfranchised and underemployed.

It is imperative that the Commission establish a DBE goal that is representative of the demographic makeup of the community...25% for minority owned businesses.

Everyone should be given an equal opportunity to participate in the construction of the new Airport Terminal, especially those who are minority-owned business. This simply means growth for all of Lafayette, la.
