While the district officials celebrate new construction, four Providence Public School Department (PPSD) buildings went without heat in October and many classrooms continue to face freezing conditions. To protect the working and learning conditions for all in PPSD, we demand:

  • A student and a PTU member are added to the School Building Committee to ensure that the voices of people actually in classrooms are represented
  • PPSD creates and publicly releases plans to keep aging buildings at safe temperatures, no matter the weather

I’m a PPSD alum and a former teacher and this was bad when we were kids and it’s only getting worse.

Who would oppose having a classroom teacher and a PPSD student joining the School Building Committee?

Let’s ensure our students & community can have a warm place to learn and grow especially as the winter is coming through.
