Decision Makers: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

We ask FMCSA to stop the trucking due process delays caused by the rollout of MOTUS in May 2026 and to restore a fair, working system for companies with preexisting transporting permits and new applicants.

Since the agency rolled out its new integrated system, many people have been caught in a burden of long call center wait times, unanswered issue tickets, and repeated technical problems. These delays do real harm to businesses that have already spent a great deal to meet Code Of Regulations compliance requirements. When companies do everything required of them, they should not be left waiting because the system is not working as it should. The responsibility is on FMCSA to protect procedural due process, not weaken it through a government technical glitch.

This breakdown affects more than paperwork. It slows permits, creates uncertainty, and keeps qualified operators from moving forward on U.S. highways. It places the cost of a government failure on companies that have already done their part and on new applicants trying to enter the field the right way. It also leaves businesses carrying financial strain and growing debt while they wait for a process that should be moving.

We are calling on FMCSA to fix the MOTUS problems, clear the backlog, and restore active authority to operators without further delay. The agency must take the burden off the public and put proper safeguards in place so this does not keep happening. Each signature on this petition is a demand for immediate action and a return to a process that is reliable, lawful, and fair for everyone involved.
